FAQs

Answers on collapsing nipples, sterilizing, how long silicone gear lasts, GentleBottle sizes and parts, the five nipple flows, and why we build in silicone.

My bottle nipple is collapsing. What should I do?

Try one of these options to solve.

  1. Pinch the vents (back of the nipple) to ensure they are open.
  2. Clean the vent tips thoroughly with warm running water. Let it air dry.
  3. Place in boiling water for 5 minutes.

Where are Olababy products made?

Our product is designed in Portland Oregon and made in China.

How do you sterilize Olababy products?

Always sterilize before first use. We recommend boiling in hot water for 5 minutes.

How long does your products last?

We suggest no more than 6 months, depending on the usage.

Are the GentleBottle parts interchangeable?

All GentleBottles parts are interchangeable between the 4oz bottle, 8oz bottle.

When is it time to move to a different flow rate nipple?

If your baby is having a hard time getting milk out or she is straining to suck the milk, it may be time to move up to a faster flow rate nipple.

Are there any accessories for the GentleBottle?

The GentleBottle is aimed to provide the best bottles to transition from breast to bottle and from bottle to solids. We created many accessories for the GentleBottle such as the teether handle, breast pump adapters, travel storage caps, soft spout and straw lid to support specific needs of the parent and child in each of the bottle feeding stage.

How many sizes does GentleBottle have?

The GentleBottle comes in 4oz and 8oz. The unique measurements on the side of the bottle measures volume in both Metric and Imperial.

How many different nipple flows does the GentleBottle have?

We have developed five different nipple flows, each with its own number of holes and flow rate, to meet the unique need of each child: preemie (0m+), slow (0-3m+), medium (3-6m+), fast (6m+), and an X-cut, which is shaped for thickened liquids rather than for a faster milk flow. Our 4oz bottle comes with the slow flow nipple and the 8oz with medium flow. The full flow guide walks through each level and the feeding cues that say it is time to move up.

Why Silicone?

We focus on silicone in our products because silicone is one of the safest materials for baby products, especially for feeding applications where contact is often made between the products and baby's mouth. Silicone is BPA, PVC, lead and phthalate free, and we have the finished products tested by independent laboratories rather than testing the raw material alone.
