The GentleBottle was designed for exactly that moment: a squeezable silicone body that compresses in a baby's hands like skin, and an off center nipple shaped for a natural latch with a slow controlled flow. Pump adapters connect Medela and Spectra pumps straight to the bottle, and the transitional set carries the same familiar bottle from newborn feeds through to a sippy lid.
Which nipple flow do we use?
Flow is matched to how the baby feeds, not to a birthday. Start at the slowest stage and move up only if feeds are getting long, the baby is working hard or falling asleep mid feed. Coming down a stage is normal too. Replacement nipples for every stage are on this shelf, so a bottle already in the cupboard can be re-fitted rather than replaced.
Can we pump straight into it?
Yes, with the matching adapter. There is one for Medela and one for Spectra style fittings, and they thread onto the bottle so milk goes from the pump to the bottle to the fridge without a transfer step. Fewer transfers is fewer things to wash and fewer millilitres left on the sides of a container.
